A few Spring Phone Pics

I just uploaded some pics from my phone and thought I'd post and comment on this drizzly May morning.

This was taken at an Ohio wholesale nursery in March. Brent and I were there for a plant auction.

Water Feature

"Water feature thing" nearing completion. It wasn't till it reached this stage, I realized my Frank Lloyd Wright influences were showing.

Water Feature

Still needs more thoroseal...and all kinds of other gunk to get it water tight. This was my first attempt at laying any kind of block and mortar, so some of the joints were pretty sloppy.

With Plants

I put a piece of pvc through a half block, filled with mortar for a nice artesian well effect. Took these this morning with dull cloudy light -- lookin a little fuzzy but you get the idea...

Water Hyacinth. These and a couple water lilies will fill the lower basin with flowers later.

All this stuff will be blooming in a couple weeks.

We've sold a lot of baskets! Still lots of clean healthy hanging baskets in our hoop house, plus yesterday I started another 30 flower pouch bags and more annual baskets for summer. (just need to sweep up now!)

Garden Center

Perennials are just starting to pop.

Inside, some clay bird baths, expressions in stone, statuary etc.

Still developing some houseplant inventory.

The desk view from where I sit right now. Nice view of the western sky that's better than local radar.

Severe Storm Last Night

I found myself driving across town during the storm last night.  On the radio over the sound of lightning strikes nearly every second a funnel cloud sighting was announced nearby. Gusts of leaf and twig filled wind blasted my truck from side to side as the sound of hail hitting the bed topper made me feel like it was being hit by machine gun fire.  In other words... it was kinda fun!  :)

On the down side there is some cleanup and repair to do now at the garden center.  Billboards and a sign blew over at the front of the property.  Even some sweet corn planted by a fence was blown over.

At nearby Lehman High School a football team took shelter in a buildings shower area where the roof vents blew off and 3/4 inch hail was falling through.

I hate these billboards anyway, wish they had all blown over! But I guess they will just go back up again...

Music

I put an essential element in place today at the new place, music. Amazing what a difference it makes to hear our special mix of tunes again! If you care to take a listen it is

Images of the Garden Center Move

Okay, I snapped a few pictures yesterday and today of the demolition and
construction as we ready our new location.

Moving down the road

If you've been by our old location during the past couple weeks, no, a bomb didn't go off, and we are all ok! :)

We have been busy tearing up the old place and setting up a new garden center; all during a great stretch of weather that has permitted our landscape crews to keep very busy!

Screams in the Garden

We are getting great reviews from visitors to our Haunted Garden. It's odd how hearing screams echoing from every part of the garden center makes me smile.

Scariness on the way.

Maybe you've noticed some strange changes the past week at the garden center. We are preparing for Something special beginning September 28th. Friday and Saturday nights plus Halloween the garden center will be transformed into a Haunted Garden .
